St. Jeanne Jugan Statue Finds New Home
Over 15 years ago, every Little Sisters of the Poor Home across the globe received a beautiful bronze statue of St. Jeanne Jugan for display outside of their Home. Our statue in Pittsburgh found the perfect spot at the time in front of the newly opened Jeanne Jugan Pavilion apartments. She stands in a place for all apartment Residents and visitors to see when entering the building.
The Little Sisters of the Poor Home in Cleveland, Ohio also received an identical St. Jeanne Jugan statue at that same time. When the decision was made that the Little Sisters would withdrawal from their ministry in Cleveland and the property was being vacated, the statue moved to the closest Little Sisters home in operation which was Pittsburgh.
A new pedestal was assembled and the statue was hoisted on top of it just in time for her Feast day on August 30th. Volunteers from the Home followed careful instructions to shine the exterior and plant a beautiful bed of flowers surrounding her. Now both entrances, the main entrance and the pavilion entrance, have identical St. Jeanne Jugan statues watching over all who enter!
