One Last Party Before Lent

  • February 17, 2018

Every year our Residents look forward to the biggest party of the year—Mardi Gras. In our Home we have not just one but two celebrations for this time before Lent. The partying begins with a Ball on Monday evening where this year’s King Ed Nemeth and Queen Betty Miller were crowned as new royalty.

Students from local colleges helped to keep the dance floor busy all evening to tunes spun by DJ Greg Sovek. Every Resident was dressed to the nines and enjoyed the special evening.

The next day, “Fat Tuesday,” began with coffee and beignets in the Meet-N-Treat. Later in the day everyone selected beads and costumes for the parade down the main hall led by the Pittsburgh Symphonic Dixie Band. By the end of all the celebrations the Residents were thoroughly partied out and ready for the quieter time of Lent.

Our party even made the front page of the local newspaper the next day!
