Cruising the Three Rivers

  • September 16, 2017

One of Pittsburgh’s unique geographical features is the confluence of the three major rivers: Allegheny, Ohio, and Monongahela. The Gateway Clipper Fleet operates river boat cruises for tourists and locals alike to experience Pittsburgh on the water. This past August a group of 90 Residents, Sisters, volunteers and staff set sail for a luncheon cruise. This annual tradition is underwritten by a special benefactor who made this year’s trip even more memorable by pre-purchasing souvenir photographs for each Resident.

Jimmy Sapienza and 5 Guys Named Moe provided the entertaining music and everyone enjoyed a delicious meal. Even though it is a logistical challenge to transport 90 people from the Home to the boat dock as we needed buses, cars, a donated golf cart and wheelchairs, the happiness this outing brings to the Residents is well worth the effort!
