A Day of Renewal

  • May 6, 2012

On May 1, 2012, the entrance procession of the Eucharistic celebration of the Feast of St. Joseph the Worker, began with Association of Jeanne Jugan members, Eric McCarthy as Cross Bearer and Al Bannon holding high an Icon of St. Jeanne Jugan, followed by the remaining members as we sang the processional hymn “Holy Patron, Thee Saluting.” After Fr. John Geinzer’s inspirational homily, two new candidates, Ann Doran and Karen Jasko, professed their promise to serve Jesus in the elderly poor, along with the other 21 Association members who renewed their annual promises.

Having received our “Heavenly food,” the Association, together with Mother Judith and all the Little Sisters, Fr. John, and guests of the AJJ members, gathered in the auditorium for our “Earthly food.” Karen Jasko sang the Blessed Mother’s song of praise, Holy is His Name by John Michael Talbot, pausing at times as Ann Doran spoke personal prayers of thanksgiving for being called by God to be an Association member, reinforcing all of our feelings.

“If God is with us, it will be accomplished.”  ~ Saint Jeanne Jugan
