203 Years Celebrated
On Wednesday, June 17 the Little Sisters hosted a vehicle parade for two Residents’ birthdays. Resident Kay Canyock turned 100 and Resident Mary Sahayda turned 103 on the same day! Six Pittsburgh Police officers on motorcycles and five police cars escorted a parade of 23 decorated vehicles and one golf cart. The parade of our volunteers, friends and Resident family members passed the main entrance of the Home.
The two Residents celebrating birthdays were out front and other Residents holding up birthday signs lined up, six feet apart from one another, along the sidewalk to have a good view. Staff and Sisters also were on hand to watch the special parade. There was even a bagpiper dressed in a kilt performing! The parade piqued the interest of our neighbors across the street who were holding Happy Birthday signs as well. Kay and Mary can’t wait to do it again next year!
