One Final Party Before Lent!
The days before Ash Wednesday are the biggest party time of the year at the Little Sisters! At the Mardi Gras Ball everyone dressed up in their finest gown or suit and headed to the auditorium where the court and the King & Queen of Mardi Gras were introduced. Husband and wife Gloria and Ed McNabb were ushered in as the newly crowned King & Queen.
The court was also escorted in by students from the University of Pittsburgh and Duquesne University. Mother Mary Vincent handed over the keys to the Home to the King & Queen and they announced “Let the Good Times Roll!” A dancing celebration ensued with entertainment by DJ Greg Sovek.
The next day the Mardi Gras parade through the first floor had a movie theme. St. Michael’s household was decorated like the Wizard of Oz and the Residents were all dressed up to match the theme. The Pittsburgh Dixie Band led the revelers with “When the Saints” March on repeat as the Residents and their escorts arrived in the auditorium.
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette posted a video of the event:
