Each December our Residents are thrilled to welcome guests of all ages to share in the spirit of Christmas. Dozens of students, teachers and parents from Reserve Elementary visit each year bearing gifts for Residents. While the new pair of socks or Christmas decoration is certainly appreciated, it is the interaction and smiling faces of the visitors that truly represent the spirit of Christmas! After the gifts are delivered the students then escort the Residents to the auditorium for a Christmas carol sing-a-long with refreshments and cheer!
In addition to Reserve Elementary, others in the community go the extra mile to deliver presents to specific Residents. So far this Christmas season local news anchors David Johnson and Peggy Finnegan of WPXI Channel 11 delivered gifts as part of the “Presents for Patients” campaign. Residents Jean Rectenwald and Jessie Foley were thrilled to welcome them. Employees from Highmark also stopped by bearing gifts and hosted a Christmas party complete with a balloon artist for the Residents of St. Michael household. Many local parishes even “adopt” Residents as part of their giving tree and make special deliveries of gifts to our home.
Many thanks to all our friends and benefactors who kindly remember our elderly Residents at this blessed time of year!
Sharing the Christmas Spirit!
