On Monday, March 3, the Little Sisters celebrated its annual Mardi Gras Coronation Ball and Gala, and the auditorium was transformed into a scene out of the French Quarter in New Orleans.
Residents were invited to attend the event, starting with the introduction and procession of the 2014 Mardi Gras royal court. The court was comprised of residents of the home, volunteers and employees. There were knights, ladies in waiting, and a court jester, but the most spectacular entrance of the evening was made by King Thomas Scherer and Queen Mary Lindsey.
The festivities continued with the crowning of this year’s king and queen by last year’s royal couple, Dean and Bobbie Moriarity. After the reading of the 2014 Mardi Gras proclamation and presentation of the “key to the Home,” the party began with the new king and queen announcing in traditional Mardi Gras fashion to “Let the good times roll!”
Hors d’oeuvres and drinks were served, while some in attendance enjoyed dancing the night away with entertainment by George Suhon. A great time was had by all!
