Begging Sisters — Sr. Josephine and Sr. Margaret Angeline
Every Little Sisters Home has two Sisters committed to “begging.” They go out to the church collections on weekends and to the markets during the week gathering needed items for our Home. Here in Pittsburgh Sister Josephine and her companion Sister Margaret Angeline fill these essential roles. As you can imagine they are always quite busy. Below is a photo of the two Sisters meeting pre-teen siblings Landon and Avery at “Handmade Pasta by Yvonne” in the north hills where their grandmother Patty works and where the Sisters have a collection box for loose change.
The siblings recently moved back to Pittsburgh and were paid for a favor that they performed, but the deal was that some of their funds had to go to charity. Knowing the Sisters through the pasta shop, they told their grandma Patty that they wanted to give money to the Little Sisters. So the next time the Sisters came collect the money box, Landon and Avery were there and happy to give $30 to the Sisters. What a thoughtful gift and a great lesson for the youngsters!
Last weekend the Begging duo headed out to Kuhn’s Market on Banksville Road. The Sisters along with their volunteers handed out shopping lists to shoppers of canned goods needed in the Home. They sold hot dogs and filled the begging van with donated food. Kuhn’s market is also home to Little Sisters collecting boxes and are great friends to our mission! Thanks to all who contributed to the success of the Hot Dog Sale & Collection! Look for the Begging Sisters later this summer at the Bellevue and Ingomar Kuhns stores!
