The month of May has already been a busy one here in the home with many activities occurring.
On May 5th we celebrated the Kentucky Derby with Sisters and Residents. Our “mocktail” special of the day was a mint julep that everyone seemed to enjoy. Posing for photos behind a card board cut out of a horse provided many laughs and smiles for our Residents. Five of them even picked the winning horse for the big race!!
“May Day for Seniors” was sponsored by the Women’s Committee of the Carnegie Museum of Art. Ten Residents boarded the bus and headed to a day at the museum on May 7th. The Women’s committee had professional entertainers, lunch, and refreshments for all attending. We also were given brief tours of the Museum. The only down side for the Residents was that the Dinosaur exhibit was closed for the day for cleaning. This is the third year that our Residents have attended this event and each year it gets better and better. Thanks to the many volunteers who went with us to make this outing a huge success!
May 8th was our Strawberry Patch Party in the Auditorium. Residents planted their own strawberries with volunteer Nadine Jedlicka from our Garden Club. Strawberry smoothies were a special afternoon treat while we decorated strawberry balloons.
The Garden Club capped off this week’s activities by planting their tomato and pepper plants. The Residents can’t wait until later in summer when the food will be ripe for picking.
You don’t have to look hard to find fun happening at our home!
