Believing in the value of the lives of the elderly, the Little Sisters of the Poor strive to make their Residents as happy as possible. You, too, can discover the wisdom and beauty of the elderly through the many volunteer opportunities which exist at our home.By volunteering regularly or for special events, you will experience happiness yourself as you offer the Residents companionship and joy!
Our volunteers escort Residents to and from activities or physical therapy, assist them on shopping trips and other outings, volunteer in the kitchen, country store, Resident computer room, & the “Little Shop of Plenty,” our in-house thrift shop, organize our rummage and craft/ceramics sales, and help in the administrative offices.
There are many volunteer opportunities available at the Little Sisters of the Poor:
- Visiting with Residents
- Assisting with activities, crafts, exercise & music programs
- Assisting with serving Residents’ meals
- Escort and transport Residents to their medical appointments
Volunteering is an excellent way to share your time and talents, and in return, to experience happiness as you brighten someone’s day. We encourage groups from churches, schools or offices to sponsor an activity such as bingo or adopt our Residents during the holidays similar to Present for Patients. Your group can also help by collecting items needed to help care for the elderly and run the home! Contact us for collection ideas.
