July 20, 2020
Dear Family & Friends,
As I had mentioned in my previous update, the final staff members were tested in early July and, unfortunately, we are still waiting on those results. There has been a significant back-log in Allegheny County as the cases have dramatically increased in this region in the last 3 weeks. Currently, no Resident, Sister or employee is showing any symptoms and we are encouraging everyone to be careful with masks and social distancing when out in public.
As for plans for reopening and allowing in-person visits with the nursing home Residents, we unfortunately cannot make that a reality at this time. We are being very cautious and want to continue to keep our Residents safe as the cases of Covid-19 increase in our community. Our “window visits” and facetime chats continue. Thank you for being patient and please know as soon as it is possible we will make every effort to safely welcome in-person visits and our much missed volunteers back to the Home.
We are happy to report that we passed our “Covid-19” inspection by the state that occurred at the end of June. The Activities Department is hard at work preparing for “Christmas in July” this week! Anything for the Residents to look forward to is important. Thank you for continuing your prayers for all of us here on Benton Avenue. We continue to pray for you and hope that this pandemic will be contained very soon
